Based in Jamestown as our Maintenance Officer, you will be accountable for the provision of essential safety, preventative and breakdown maintenance in consultation with the Property Services Department & Maintenance Team Leader. 

The Maintenance Officer also completes regulatory equipment checks and assists with a variety of housekeeping and support service functions to ensure optimum standards in the physical environment of the site.  

 

You’ll also make an impact by:

  • Ensuring the maintenance of external environments including sweeping of verandas, pergolas, entrances and driveways. 
  • Responding to building or equipment problems and determine degree and urgency of work and liaising with contractors. 
  • Ensuring hot water systems and plant rooms are clean and maintained in accordance with legislative requirements. 
  • Undertaking visual testing of all electrical appliances for new residents and completed relevant forms required for follow up testing and tagging.
  • Providing assistance with other housekeeping and personal care needs as required.

 

What you’ll bring 

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a building maintenance and/or fixed plant.
  • Ability to provide clear and concise verbal and written instructions related to maintenance issues.
  • Good verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate with a diverse range of people.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft desktop products such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Valid NDIS Worker Screening clearance or be willing to obtain one. 

You’ll stand out from the crowd if you have some of the following:

  • A trade qualification or certificate related to maintenance or trade-work
  • Experience working with older persons
