Welcome to Helping Hand

We are pleased to welcome you to your placement at Helping Hand. We are looking forward to getting to know you and working together to meet your learning goals, and assist you on your journey towards providing high quality services for older people.

We hope you will take the opportunity to experience the varied types of services that Helping Hand provide to support the health and wellbeing of older people. Each client or staff interaction is an opportunity to demonstrate your unique contribution to the lives of older people.

Helping Hand considers students to be very important in the future of high-quality aged care and works to create opportunities that enhance the learning of each student and the outcomes for our residents and clients.

Your participation in our orientation/ induction session, will help prepare you for your experience at Helping Hand. Understanding the systems and expectations in aged care service provision becomes critical information to enable you to achieve a successful placement outcome.

Whether you are on placement to learn about aged care and / or considering employment in aged care we will be evaluating your performance throughout your time with us. We will be seeking feedback from the people working with you, asking you questions and looking at how well you engage in the workplace. We also focus on your professionalism, teamwork and how you demonstrate person centred care, these areas will be taken into consideration when we are assisting you with completion of your workbooks and if you do wish to seek employment after placement.
